I don’t have the utterance of a clue of what I am doing here but it seems that everyone who is ….well, breathing is blogging. My other half has recently been totally consumed into the world and officially consummated his nerdom with an attendance at the Irish Blog Awards on February 29th.
So this brings me to the thoughts of what my First Blog should be about.
Thinking…….thinking……hmm…..
Okay – so it’s not as easy as it looks. Thinking……
I am told that Blogstipation is the correct term. That sounds about right. I need some inspiration so I set about to peruse the ramblings of some bloggers with somewhat more experience than myself.
I started off with the recently published Twenty Major. My attention span coupled with the fact that the newest episode of Lost is playing in the background prohibits me from reading through the extensive archives of Twenty’s whimsical social commentary. However, the over all sensation I get is that “this is way too clever for me!”. Some real thought and hard founded views have been called upon in the construction of these blogs. I have neither the time the inclination (absolutely no offence intended here) or brain power to create such passionate articles.
Block the Robber was my next port of call on the recommendation of Mr. Lottie. Again, I’m overwhelmed by the commitment and passion involved and I must look for something a little less taxing to steal inspiration from.
Now one blog I am familiar with, despite only today learning it is in fact a BLOG is Postsectret.com. My friend Darragh introduced me to this site when I visited him in Spain last October and now I am addicted. It’s an American based community art project where people anonymously mail their secrets on postcards which are then posted in an online picture blog.
It’s often inspiriting, heart-warming and sometimes totally depressing and the voyeurist in me loves it. It’s like taking the quickest deepest look into someone’s life without have to go to all the tiring effort of having to get to know them So this is how I feel I will eventually go with my Blog if time and the aforementioned attention span permit its continued existence.
Then there are what I will call the life bloggers who share the highs and lows of their daily lives such as Irish Flirty Something and The Crabbling Otter. I’m not big on the sharing and my daily routine bears very little blogable fruit, unless you find commuting and filing stirs your cockles.
So here I sit with my agnostic indifference, upcoming exams and repetitious routine looking for inspiration for my new flavour of the month hobby.
So I take this opportunity to set myself a challenge – LIVE A MORE EXCITING LIFE – If for no other reason than to have something to write about.

Congratulations on dipping into the weird world of the blog.
Don’t mind that Twenty fella, or Bock either. They don’t know what they’re talking about.

Blogstipation? More like blogativity! Or blogtastic! Or blogopolis! Fair play to you!
(Darren’s already subscribed and blogged about his cat)
And you do need milk. We’ll be over for tea.

Blogstipation…. nice one. As good as Terry Pratchett’s “Embuggerance” to describe his Alzheimer’s.
Does that mean that if I pay a child in fluff covered mouldy sweets to type up my blog I’ll be guilty of blogsploitation?
Welcome to the blogorama… I agree with Grandad, don’t let Twenty or Bock scare you away. Sure with his new found millions Twenty will be too distracted looking at catalogues to buy islands and bimbos and sheep and stuff.
Now that Crabbling Otter weirdo, he’s a different kettle of spanners completely

Liz, I read this at the time but I really should have mentioned what a brilliant first post I think it is. And you pretty much sum up exactly how I feel on starting out with this stuff- the lack of what knowing what to talk about, the wanting to be yourself while remaining somewhat private, etc. Your recent posts have been great too and I will visit more often from now on.
