Ok. I did it. I got Google reader as my “blog folder” is now three exhaustive pages.
However, I’m not sure it was entirely the right thing to do. I have only now realised just how many blogs I frequent on an almost daily basis.
I think I may have a problem.

Bad idea. Probably. I just use my blogroll instead, but the problem with doing that is that I start liking pages that aren’t on it, then I have to trawl through other blogs to get back to them. Or else i have to add them all to my blogroll, which would get very long very quickly. the other thing about google reader is that i would feel I had to look at all my unread items as quickly as possible, which isn’t really practical. There’s a good few blogs that I just catch up on every few days.

I get about 120-150 new feed items each day in my feed inbox (and that’s not just blogs, news sites and other things as well). I consider it a good day if I can get through them all

Google Reader allows you to organise feeds into folders – so weed out the feeds you want to read every day into a “daily” folder and then organise the rest into folders marked Monday through Friday and catch up on them that way. Easiest way of making sure you don’t get overloaded with a large number of subscriptions!

so… am I the only person who doesn’t subscribe to blogs?
I just browse them all in one big flurry.

I’ve got 995 items in my reader at the minute… With many more thousands that I’ve read or skipped over…
I actually semi-organise it with a “Good stuff” and “informative stuff” folder, and use trends to get rid of some blogs every now and again!

Hehe… that’s NOTHING!

I do the same as B’dum.
I don’t subscribe, I like to stumble across a blog that I like, then it ends up on my blogroll and I keep up with it then.

I open most of my blogroll in separate tabs and work my way through…….I do this twice a day…….I do subscribe to a few sights….mainly the ones that update more than once a day……

@Andrew – Im thinking of adding in a Blog Roll page with everything on it for my own use.
@Catherine – I am going to play around with the settings this evening. Then I will decide as to it’s fate.
@ Manuel- That’s what I have been doing. I actually enjoy reading from the Blog itself as it’s aesthetically more interesting.

You can read the blog posts in the blogs using that Google Reader preview script I posted about a while back:
Commenting within Google Reader

B’dum – If there was one person I was sure would subscribe to blogs it’d be you. There’s been times you’ve commented on my posts within minutes of them being put up. Actually, Lottie you’re pretty quick off the draw too, so I figured you already had a reader set up. How do you people do it? I set up Google reader a couple of months ago, subscribed to one blog that posts very infrequently and left it at that. it’s great cos I can leave it for weeks and come back to find only one new post waiting for me, as opposed to thousands if i put all the ones I read on there.
Having said all that, I need to update my blogroll because there’s a few great ones out there that haven’t been added yet, and trekking through other people’s blogs every time I want to get to them seems a bit silly.
