@Jo – I think a lot of talented people are restricted to that one talent and it often takes over their life. Particularly when it’s a child being driven by a parent. Maybe it’s better to have a little bit of lots of things.

Although, one of my closet friends in school was one fo the most talented people I have ever met. She could Act, Sing, dance, play instruments and she was really pretty. Why was I friends with her?

I think I could have been a good swimmer, but the days where I would have had to have training and ambitious parents etc are long gone.

I’m a little bit arty, a little bit writery, but not so’s you’d single it out as special, sadly.

But you just never know what unexplored thing lies untapped inside you. Irish educational possibilities are pretty narrow, there’s so much you don’t find out about. As is/was our exposure to things we might be good at.

Maybe there was more opportunity for a while. Though our govt may be putting paid to any of that.

I’m good at some things but not great. I think it works out better.
