Pirouette Pirouette Plunge

dance edit

In my mind I am a dancer. I float blissfully through the city bowing at windmills and capturing imaginary partners in a graceful dip.

But at the end of the day reality dawns and I realise just how clumsy and uncoordinated I really am.

I lie in bed and count my bruises challenging myself to recall where each purple-blue haze originated. Resting my legs up against the wall I press each mark causing a small painful twinge that might, like some biological jump lead spark a memory.

In my mind I am Anna Pavlova then I catch my reflection to see Stan Laurel squinting back at me.

Lol ….I was only discussing this same problem with my mother last night while watching Dirty Dancing….

  2. Grannymar Says:

I never did ballet! I tried Irish dancing but it was suggested I stay home after one lesson. My brother who was sent along to mind me did well and went on to win medals

My lyrical teacher used to tell us that everyone is a dancer, you just have to find that dancer inside you… Gay, but I believe it. While everyone might not be the next MJ or JT, it’s putting yourself out there and trying that counts.

    I hear you

I have an absolute fear of dancing (or maybe it’s a fear of looking like an idiot) but in my head I’m graceful and a buster of moves :P

At least you have the courage to leap and collect the bruises and that’s definitely what counts.

  5. B Says:

    I done ballet.

Let us never speak of it again.

@Catherine – Ah Dirty Dancing. How many times I have tried that jump in the pool.

@Grannymar – I was an Irish dancer for years. Clearly the nelly in my didn’t kick in until my twenties. Ouch!

@Lyndsay & GOE – Ooh I’ve got rythm. As long as no-one is watching. :) I do a grat moon walk in my PJ’s.

@B – No no, go on. Please :) *runs off too Google images*

    @Dermot – Thanks D :)

  8. The Sexy Pedestrian Says:

Everyone can dance, it’s just some people dance differently to other people and others not entirely in time with the music.

    Jo xx
