An Irish Tourist In Ireland

The Boy brought me off to Bunratty on a whim last weekend for a bit of Irish culture.

We spent a whole day wandering the castle grounds and most of a night listening to the roof being raised in Durty Nelly’s bar. I so often forget the beauty we have right here on our door step and intend to make more of an effort to explore Ireland.

If you do go for a visit I highly recommend The Bunratty Castle Hotel too as it has the most amazing spa & leisure Center. I really didn’t want to leave.

I love Bunratty. Been there every year for the last 3 years.

Have never stayed in the hotel mind you but looks lovely!

Seems like you had a great visit.

@Peter – The hotel was great. They have a fab pool & spa, one of the most relaxing I’ve ever been in. I’ll definitely go back down.

well if you still wanna explore these fare shores (yes i said fare shores) then ‘kate karney’s cottage’ at teh gap of dunlow seems to be tremendous fun all together or indeed the gap of dunlow if your in to your walking!

i know what you mean though about exploring ireland i’m on a mission this year to see the country too, cliffs of moher; check. gap of dunlow; check.

I’ve never been to Bunratty and remember feeling woefully disadvantaged as a child because of it. Same with Fota Island. Muckross House though? Practically lived there. Pah.
