Armitage Shank’s gig at The Purdy Kitchen, Dublin on 7th April 2009.
Time really does fly by. Today is my One-Year Bloggiversary and what an year it has been. In the past 12 months, I have met the best people in the world, amazing, funny, kind, intelligent. I have somehow managed to accumulate just over 300 posts and over 2500 comments (no wonder I have a mountain of work sitting on my desk).
Thank you everyone for being so nice and keeping me company and particular to the more seasoned bloggers for not laughing at me.
You all Rock!
March ….A bit of slow starter due to exams.
April…New bloggery paintballing.
May… Beach Season begins
June… If this building had burned down, the Internet would have gone silent.
Okay – this is also June but Kilkenny ROCKS!
July… And the cocktails started to flow.
August…Perhaps the most fun yet. It definitely warrants two photos.
Then September… My first soundcheck…

October.… And I chose not to ride with Batman

but we did have some good Suntory…

November…the Burlesque bug catches more people in it’s net

December...

January …Did I mention I was in New York? (It still counts as a blogger related thing as I met other bloggers over there)

February… and i’ve caught a slight case of the Twitter bug.

Roll on the next 12 months!
A few months back my mum started going through all our old family albums, or more accurately put, all the many boxes and suit cases of old unsorted photos which fill one of the two attics at home. We decided to scan all the photos onto a database for ease of access for future generations and the protect the prints against any unfortunate accidents (by accidents she recalls the fire which destroyed her childhood home and all photos of her before she was 12).
There are literally thousands of snaps and the first batch ma mére sent over to me were around the ‘86-’92 period which she had specifically pulled out for my sisters’ 21st birthday. They were taken on cheap cameras and turned out rather grainy on scanning but for me the sentiment and memories shine through.
Here are a few of my favourites:-
“ We are not the same persons this year as last; nor are those we love. It is a happy chance if we, changing, continue to love a changed person.”
Photo 1: My sister J proving that girls can be tom boys too. Either that or it’s her well practised cat impersonation.
Photo 2: Two of my sisters and I at some wedding. I can’t recall whose wedding it was but I know that the hotel had a glass veranda in which the children spent most of the day.
Photo 3: My sisters, my granny and I on the first day my granny met my youngest sister. Look how happy she looks. I’m told I still smile the same way and yes my hair was always big.
Photo 4: The twins first day of school. Note the funky Garfield jumpers.
Photo 5: Brittas Bay moments before I realised that the tide was coming in and that wet sand is surprisingly heavy.
Photo 6:Just look at the cars!!!
Photo 7: What Halloween costumes used to be. Can you tell what she is? Little Red Riding Hood. I think she had a sign on her back to help those with a less …imaginative mind.
Halloween is now offically my favourite “holiday”. Roll on next year.
Many thanks to Niamh & Sinead for sharing photos.
Quotes of the Night:
“Is that a truncheon in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?”
“That woman is hostile. She’s like an Iraqi army base”
“Ich liebe dich”
“Epic fail”
I’m too dizzy and lazy to blog properly today so instead of cleaning up I decided that it was more important to take random photos of the leftovers.
I love Blueberries. I like the way they feel between my fingers. If I could be any fruit I would definitely be a Blueberry.
Another one of RP’s amazing “creations”. I’m starting to realise that every time I see this girl she has cake. I likes her lots!
Above all else, I adore Champagne. This bottle has been sitting in my fridge since the first week of August waiting for an appropriate moment to be popped.
Breakfast should never ever have this many colours to it. It’s just not right.
